Etta Rose, 89, of 263 Newport Road, Oneco, died Saturday morning at the Haven Health Center in Griswold. She was born Aug. 1, 1912 in Sterling the daughter of Edwin and Henrietta (Boutwell) Tyler. She was the wife of the late Herman S. Rose who died in 1974. She was a lifelong resident of Sterling and was a member of the Oneco Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Irene Tarbox of Oneco; 3 sons, Herman Rose Jr. of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Richard Rose of Oneco and David Rose of E. Greenwich, RI; one sister, Gladys Thompson of Greene, RI; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Walter Tyler Sr., Edwin Tyler and Arthur Tyler Sr.; and 3 sisters, Alice Brown, Clara Bowsley and Edna Grant. Funeral services are Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Tillinghast Funeral Home, 25 Main Street, Central Village. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Oneco. Visiting hours are Monday 7-9 p.m. |
